Call for Poster Abstracts

Submission deadline: October 25, 2019

The UNC School of Medicine Well-Being Committee is hosting its first Wellness Scholarship Expo on November 19, 2019 to showcase the work of faculty, staff, trainees and students who are exploring innovative solutions to improve wellness at UNC.

The abstract can focus on topics including, but not limited to: student wellness, trainee wellness, faculty wellness, health care provider wellness, staff/employee wellness, improving systems, innovation in the workplace, improving work-life balance, mitigating adverse events in the workplace, tools for tracking wellness, mindfulness, and other wellness topics not mentioned here. The abstract/poster content is not limited to initial or first time offerings and can include content previously presented at other local, state, or national conferences.

Abstract Requirements

The abstract should be in MS Word, double-spaced, 11 point font Arial or other sans serif font, and no longer than 275 words. All abstracts must follow the structured format below:

Title of Abstract

Presenting Author’s Name, Other authors’ names

Authors’ Institution/Affiliation

  • Background: Study objectives, hypothesis, or a description of the problem;
  • Methodology: Study design, including a description of participants, procedures, measures, and appropriate statistical analyses;
  • Results: Specific results in summary form; and
  • Conclusions: Description of the implications of main outcome of the study or the intended outcome for improving wellness
  • Acknowledgements (Optional): Please acknowledge sources of funding; other acknowledgements, e.g. to thank research participants, are also welcome.

All abstracts will be reviewed and should be clearly written, well structured, error free, in an appropriate format, and formal scientific tone. Notification of the abstract review status will be sent by November 5, 2019. If selected for presentation, we encourage attendance at the Wellness Scholarship Expo poster presentation on November 19, 2019 from 3-4pm in the Koury Oral Health Sciences building lobby. Posters will be judged during presentation and prizes will be awarded.
