The UNC School of Medicine invites faculty to nominate a colleague or self-nominate to be considered as a candidate in the upcoming special election to the Dean’s Advisory Committee (DAC). The special election comes as a result of Dr. Samantha Meltzer-Brody’s new role as Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, which created a vacancy for a clinical faculty representative on the committee. The School of Medicine would like to thank Dr. Meltzer-Brody for her service in this role.
The upcoming special election will offer faculty an opportunity to participate in medical school governance by serving on the committee as a faculty representative or simply voting in the election. Contact Morgan Resnick-Kahle (morgan_resnick-kahle@med.unc.edu) to express interest in being a candidate. Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. on January 24, 2020. The election will launch in February.
The Dean’s Advisory Committee is responsible for proposing academic policies, advising the Dean on administrative matters and those related to appointments/promotions, and more. This is a three year commitment which involves attending quarterly DAC meetings on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
