Melissa Miller, PhD, director of the Clinical Microbiology and Molecular Microbiology Labs at the UNC Medical Center and professor in the UNC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, has been at the forefront of COVID-19 testing since early in 2020, when she was one of the first lab directors in the country to develop a highly specific and accurate test to detect SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
