News updates this week include: Employee Benefits at Hospital, Benefits and Life Planning Workshop, Dealing with Differences and Career Opportunities.

Employee Benefits at Hospital
The Employee Benefits office will have a representative at the hospital on Feb. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Medical School Wing C (Old Motel), Room 102 to help you with benefits related questions and forms. 


Benefits and Life Planning Workshop
This workshop will discuss the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System benefits and Social Security. It is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Hedrick Classroom #2. Eligible participants should meet the following criteria:

  • age 60 with at least 5 years of service
  • age 50 with at least 20 years of service
  • any age with at least 30 years of service

Register via the Learning Management System (LMS). Seating is Limited.


Dealing with Differences
All UNC Health Care employees are invited to attend this class scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hedrick classroom 2 & 3. It covers the  similarities and differences among diverse populations, skills to deal with hurtful comments and conflict situations, a process to identify views and assumptions you have about other groups, and the National Coalition Building Institute's (NCBI) approach to prejudice reduction and coalition building.
