UNC Family Medicine Unveils Tree of Life

Last year local artists Amos Pedersen and Jennie Petruney, who is also a Nurse Practitioner at UNC Family Medicine, came up with the idea to construct a six foot mosaic in the lobby of the Family Medicine Center on Manning Drive.

Made of hand cut mosaic glass tile on wooden panels, "it embodies the work we do here at UNC Family Medicine to care for our community throughout the course of a lifetime -- from birth to old age," said Petruney. The Tree of life is a symbol of healing, community, brotherhood, balance and harmony. The Tree of Life is a family tree in the truest sense.
