NCPP Congratulates UNC Hospitals as Gold Apple Hospital

UNC Hospitals was recognized by NC Prevention Partners (NCPP) for providing the highest standard of excellence for comprehensive wellness programs offered to their employees through their healthy food environment.

The Gold Apple is awarded to hospitals that provide delicious, affordable and healthy foods to all employees.UNC Hospitals addresses how policy, the environment, education, benefits, and incentives support healthy eating.

"We are proud to provide a large selection of healthy items to our patients, co-workers and visitors as well as comfort foods that can be chosen from our retail venues," said Angelo Mojica, director of UNC Hospitals' Nutrition & Food Services. "Our emphasis on variety, product placement and education helps customers to make good choices."

Funded by the Duke Endowment, NC Prevention Partners works to improve the health of hospital employees across the state of North Carolina by creating worksite wellness environments where the healthy choice is the easy choice.
