George Sheldon Resident Research Symposium

The UNC Housestaff Council presents its inaugural George Sheldon Resident Research Symposium held in honor of the late Dr. Sheldon. The symposium will be held on May 23. Marschall S. Runge, MD, PhD, will be the keynote speaker.

Dr. Sheldon chaired the general surgery department from 1984 – 2001 and presided over multiple medical societies including the AAST, ACS, ASA, ABS, and AAMC.

In 2001, after becoming Emeritus Chairman of Surgery, Dr. Sheldon continued to mentor residents and medical students, and for his tireless dedication to resident education and productivity, this symposium is held in his honor.

Location: Koury Oral Health Sciences Building, Kirkwood Auditorium

Schedule: 12:30 p.m. – Welcome; 1 – 3 p.m. – Resident Oral Presentation Session; 3:15 – 5:30 p.m. – Resident Poster Session with Catered Reception

Twelve $100 cash prizes will be awarded for the top posters and presentations. All UNC Residents and Fellows are encouraged to attend.
