Hard stop for Medicare patients requiring attending co-sign prior to discharge beginning Nov. 11 (Intranet)
On Jan. 1, 2016 CMS will enact changes to the “Two Midnight Rule” for Medicare patients. To prepare for this change, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 11, for Medicare patients there will be a ‘hard-stop’ in Epic@UNC that will require an appropriate attending physician co-signature prior to discharge.

The North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center's 24th annual renion brought together 40 burn survivors, their families and friends, first responders and treatment providers. The Code Sepsis team is very grateful to 'Sepsis Stars' that were instrumental in delivering the sepsis bundle to patients in their care. Research has proven that patient outcomes are improved when the sepsis care bundle is delivered within 60 minutes. The sepsis initiative is working to improve timely recognition of potential sepsis and implement the entire care bundle including a lactic acid, blood cultures, IV antibiotics, and IV fluids.
