Superior Court Judge Carl Fox is in need of a bone marrow transplant to fight against a blood disease called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a condition in which the body is not able to produce enough healthy new blood cells. UNC football season begins in Charlotte tonight, in Chapel Hill Sept. 12

The first UNC football game is this evening at 6 p.m. in Charlotte. The first game at Kenan Stadium in 2015 will be on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. against North Carolina A&T. Please plan appropriately as you travel to/from UNC Hospitals and the School of Medicine on Sept. 12, as traffic will be heavy several hours before game time. Also, remember that certain parking lots are reserved for UNC home football games.

Chapel Hill Transit Labor Day schedule

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) services will not operate on Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. CHT services will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Employees with on-campus parking permits are encouraged to park in their assigned zones to avoid capacity issues and displacing patients and visitors at UNC Hospitals. Employees affected by this change are welcome to park on campus in the S11 lots. Please reserve the Dogwood visitor’s deck for patients and visitors between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Fourteen-year-old star baseball player Liam Canard, of Raleigh, has been playing baseball throughout his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Yesterday, thanks to Make-A-Wish of Eastern North Carolina, Liam received a gift that will help him hone his hitting while also taking his mind off his journey with cancer, and local media was there to cover it.
