Nursing: How to check for any overdue tasks on your Worklist
At handoff/shift change, nurses should review your Worklist to check for overdue tasks not completed on a previous shift by clicking the yellow “Overdue” button in your nursing Worklist. This report now lists all overdue tasks from the past five days (vs 24 hours previously).
Nurses must click ‘Collect’ to finalize ‘Collecting the Specimen’ task
To ensure the quickest turnaround time for specimens, the nurse must click the ‘Collect’ button in the Worklist when finished in the Tip Sheet and screenshots below.
Kennedy receives 2016 Elaine M. Hill Distinguished Volunteer Service Award
Last week, Volunteer Services at UNC Medical Center honored Ann Kennedy with the 2016 Elaine M. Hill Distinguished Volunteer Service Award. Kennedy has volunteered with UNC Mammography since 1991 -- and with UNC Hospitals since the mid-1970s.

In the late spring of 2015, UNC Health Care created the Care Access Solution Team as part of its Carolina Value efforts. The Advanced Life Support Programs unit has received the new 2015 AHA Guideline Advanced Cardiac Life Support student manuals. We will begin using these in ACLS classes in May of this year.
Updated UNC Medical Center social media policy now available on Intranet
UNC Health Care’s Legal, Privacy, and Communications, Marketing and External Affairs teams have revised and updated the UNC Medical Center social media policy. This policy, ADMIN 0228, is meant to help representatives of UNC Medical Center communicate with confidence on social media. A new exhibit provides distinctions between professional and personal use of social media to help employees understand how policies apply to them in both of these realms of activity.

Ambulatory Pathology and Cytology orders using Beaker – use ‘Order Inquiry’
Starting Thursday, April 21, outpatient pathology and cytology collection at clinics using Beaker will now be done in the 'Order Inquiry' activity using the 'Collect Specimens' button. Users need to click the 'Collection Details' hyperlink to enter their collection information – see step #9 as described in this tip sheet. Additionally, users can now place 'Future' orders - the hard stop for ‘Collection Date’ and ‘Collection Time’ has been removed.
