Campus parking lots impacted by student move-in Aug. 17 - 22

The academic year officially started with the student move-in on Wednesday, Aug. 17. As part of move-in operations, some campus parking lots will be impacted and motorists may be asked to use alternative locations.

The following south campus parking locations are among those impacted by move-in and FallFest operations:

S11 Bowles Lot:

  • Thursday and Friday, Aug. 18 - 19: Small sections within the Bowles Lot will be coned to facilitate equipment delivery for FallFest. Please do not move the cones and do not park in those spaces. Alternate S11 parking will be available in the Williamson Lot, excluding Williamson Drive, and the S11 Manning Lot.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20: The Bowles Lot will be closed to S11 permit holders and used only for 40-minute loading as part of move-in operations at nearby residence halls. S11 permits will be honored in the Dogwood Parking Deck until Monday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 21: The Bowles Lot will be closed to ALL vehicles and vehicles remaining in the lot will be towed at the owner’s expense. The lot will be used for student FallFest activities from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. The remaining items requiring set-up will arrive beginning 8 a.m. that morning.
  • Monday, Aug. 22: Most of the Bowles Lot will return to normal weekday S11 parking. Some spaces within the lot will remain blocked or occupied with FallFest equipment, which vendors will remove throughout the day on Monday so the remainder of the lot may return to normal for Tuesday, Aug. 23. Alternate S11 parking will be available in Williamson Lot, Williamson Drive, and the S11 Manning Lot.

S11 Williamson Lot / Williamson Drive:

  • Wednesday – Friday, Aug. 17 - 19: The Williamson Drive portion of the Williamson Lot will be converted to 40-minute unloading for the residence halls next to the drive. Use of the drive spaces will require a 40-minute unloading permit. Alternate S11 parking will be available in the remaining spaces in Williamson Lot and the S11 Manning Lot.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20: The entire Williamson Lot and Williamson Drive will be closed to S11 permit holders and used only for 40-minute loading as part of move-in operations at nearby residence halls. S11 permits will be honored in the Dogwood Parking Deck until Monday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 21: The entire Williamson Lot and Williamson Drive will be closed to S11 permit holders and used for 40-minute loading until 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., the spaces will be used for FallFest activities.

S1 Public Safety Lot

  • Wednesday - Friday, Aug. 17 - 19:  Approximately 20-30 spaces, in the front section of the Public Safety Lot and closest to Morrison Residence Hall, will be reserved for 40-minute unloading and will be designated as such by cones and temporary parking signs.

S1 permit holders may not park in the designated spaces unless actively moving a student into one of the surrounding residence halls.

Alternate S1 parking will be available in the Craige Deck on any level other than level 1 and 3. The Craige Deck gates will be raised at the 3rd level off Hardin Drive. When parking in Craige Deck during these days, please remember to display your valid S1 permit.  Vehicles without a valid L, CD, S1 or "40-minute unloading" permit will be cited.

  • Saturday - Sunday, Aug. 20–21:  All of the S1 Public Safety Lot, except for the police spaces and service spaces, will be reserved for move-in operations from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. each date. "S1" permit holders working on these dates should park in the Craige Deck on any available level other than Level 1 or 3.
  • Monday, Aug. 22:  Move-in operations are officially over. However, we anticipate heavy vehicular traffic in and out of the Public Safety Lot due to student permit transactions.  Therefore, the lot will be screened and vehicles without valid academic year S1 permits will be sent to Rams Head Parking Deck.

S1 permit holders should visibly display their S1 permit and slowly approach the lot monitors so the lot monitors can properly provide access to S1 permits.
