AVS not available to print at discharge if any active, unadministered vaccines on the MAR
Effective Jan. 5, 2016, a hard stop will be implemented so that the After Visit Summary (AVS) will not be available for printing at discharge if there are any active vaccines on the MAR that have not been administered. This tip sheet discusses how to manage special circumstances when the immunization will not be administered.
Gift of CuddleCots to N.C. Women's Hospital featured on WTVD
Last month we featured Debbi Clarke and her experiences losing her infant son, Eason, who was delivered stillborn in 2013. To honor Eason and thank N.C. Women's Hospital for the compassionate care they received, Debbi and her husband donated two CuddleCots to the hospital this fall. Last week the Clarkes and their gift were featured on WTVD. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol details
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols were implemented in Epic@UNC Jan. 6 at UNC Medical Center and UNC REX Healthcare. ERAS programs reduce hospital length of stay and improve post-operative pain control without increasing the rate of complication or readmission after surgery. The changes include order and order set updates, OR Status Board updates and Anesthesia/PAT Status Board updates. View details in this tip sheet.
Beaker Technical Dress Rehearsal begins Jan. 11
In preparation for the Epic@UNC Beaker Labs Go-Live April 16, 2016, at UNC Medical Center, Chatham Hospital, UNC REX Healthcare, and UNC Physicians Network, Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) teams will begin visiting units and clinics throughout January and February to confirm that all lab label printers and other equipment is ready for the Beaker Go-Live.
Upgrade for UNC Hospitals’ Pneumatic tube system Jan. 18
On Monday, Jan. 18, there will be a computer upgrade for the Pneumatic tube system at UNC Hospitals. The upgrade will shut the tube system down and will take approximately 12 hours, starting around 7 a.m. and lasting until around 7 p.m.
