Now accepting nominations for the Third Annual Boote/Gerritsen ICU Nursing Award

The Boote/Gerritsen ICU Nursing Award is a fund to recognize the exceptional care that UNC Hospitals ICU nursing staff provide to their patients and patient families on a daily basis. This award is open to UNC Hospitals ICU nursing staff including Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Clinical Support Technicians who provide exceptional patient care, service and organizational citizenship.

The award holds a value of $2000 each and is presented to four RNs/NAs/CSTs in our ICUs annually. The funds are to be used for expenses associated with nursing degree attainment, professional development or attendance at scientific conferences or meetings that will enhance the recipient’s knowledge and abilities in the health care setting. Eligibility for this award includes:

  • Full-time employee (greater than or equal to 0.75 FTE) -- CNII, CNIII, CNIV, NA I, NA II, CST I or CST II
  • Has worked at UNC Hospitals for at least one year in the ICU environment and is employed in one of the following ICU units: BICU, CICU, CTICU, MICU, NCCC, NSICU, PICU, SICU and Hillsborough ICU
  • Must utilize award funds within 12 months of receipt and must maintain continuous employment at UNC Hospitals at time of usage
  • Must not be in disciplinary action

Award recipients will be notified of this distinction in late July/early August and a ceremony highlighting their achievement will be held on Sept. 23 in Cancer Hospital Conference Room #1.
