When patients arrive on the unit, it is important to locate any orders that are signed and held so that they can be released and activated. This lunch and learn on Oct. 18 will show inpatient nurses how to do this to ensure safe patient care. The Webex starts at noon and will last approximately 40 minutes. No registration is required.

On Thursday, Oct. 6, UNC Hospitals held the first Carolina Care Service Awards for inpatient units and departments that provided exceptional care and service for our patients during the 2016 fiscal year.
The Division of Nursing honored four recipients of the Third Annual Gerritsen/Boote ICU Nursing Award on Friday, Sept. 23. The recipients were selected for providing outstanding care to patients and their families, and were granted scholarships as part of the award.
For the first time, UNC Medical Center employees who enroll in the State Health Plan’s Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP) are eligible for Health Benefit Special Pay; in previous years, only enrollees in the 80/20 or 70/30 plans were eligible to receive this benefit. The 40 percent premium reimbursement will make the CDHP a better value for employees than in the past.
After completing your wellness credits, please remember to change your plan election. If you do not change your plan election, you will remain enrolled in the 70/30 plan for 2017.

The Terrace Café reminds second-shift employees that in addition to our normal offerings, we also offer a rotating menu between the hours of 5 to 9 p.m. The menu was developed to provide choice options for our second-shift employees. Besides providing a rotating menu, we also carry a daily selection of to-go meals from 4 to 9 p.m. These meals are located next to the salads and sandwiches selections.

Oct. 16 - 22 is International Infection Prevention Week, and to celebrate the week, the Clean In, Clean Out program encourages you to participate in its Hand Hygiene Feedback Contest. Through Oct. 31, every employee who submits Clean In, Clean Out observations will be entered into a drawing.
