All employees are cordially invited to attend the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration scheduled to take place on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Children’s Hospital lobby. This event is held annually to remember the contributions of Dr. King. During his life’s work, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was committed to caring about people from all walks of life. This is in direct correlation with our values here at UNC Hospitals. Our commitment to caring recognizes the importance of people as one of the pillars vital to our success as an organization.

The keynote speaker this year will be William “Bill” Jenkins, PhD, Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. Jenkins, a graduate of UNC School of Public Health, has devoted his career to eliminating racial/ethnic health disparities. Musical selections will be performed by the Larry Draughn Music Group and the Alamance Orange Prison Ministry Gospel Choir. Please plan to attend what promises to be an uplifting event and encourage your colleagues and staff to attend.

Light refreshments will be served at the end of the program. The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration is sponsored, in part, by the UNC Health Care Shared Governance Nursing Diversity Council and the Employee Relations Department.
