“More Than a Diagnosis” is a collaborative learning experience focused on hearing the stories of former patients, family members, and current staff related to their journeys with mental illness. This event will be held July 18 from 8 a.m. - noon at the Morrisville Campus. During this event, former patients, family members, and staff will be invited to share about their journey with mental illness. They will also be invited to provide insight into what it means for a person to be more than the diagnosis that they carry and, just as important, why that matters for care providers.

Through story-telling, conversation, and collaborative engagement, participants will be reminded that a person’s diagnosis does not make up all of who they are. The purpose is to encourage care providers in their work and to encourage deeper compassion and empathy. The target audience is any UNC provider who serves patients experiencing mental illness or who has an interest in this area.

If anyone has any questions, please contact either Chaplain Andrew Tatum (Andrew.Tatum@unchealth.unc.edu) or Darlene Purcell (Darlene.Purcell@unchealth.unc.edu). You can reserve your spot in LMS here.
