Tax Preparation Assistance
Employees needing help with their tax preparation may qualify for free assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). Tax prep will not be onsite this year but will be available at VITA locations across NC and qualified employees can have their taxes prepared at State Employee Credit Union.
PTO Leave Sell Back Program Feb. 1 – 22
UNC Medical Center will offer Paid Time Off (PTO) sell-back election periods quarterly to employees. To be eligible for the sell-back options, employees must have at least 88 hours of PTO available.
2019 Administrative Professionals Conference
The APC conference will be held on April 24 - 26 of 2019. Admins from UNC owned entities are welcome to attend. Registration for the event is now open.

UNC’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program is focused on improving patient outcomes by promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobials, including the choice of drug, dosing regimen, monitoring and duration. The team is multidisciplinary with team members from the Department of Pharmacy and the Divisions of Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UNC Hospitals.

Well-Being Program Addressing Work Place Burnout System-Wide
In July 2018, UNC Health Care, UNC Physicians, and the UNC School of Medicine formally launched the System-Wide Well-Being Initiative – since then, more than 5,000 employees have participated in the Well-Being Index to gauge their stress and well-being. Behind the scenes, the Well-Being program has begun a number of initiatives that you will see in the coming year. Providers: Updates to C. Difficile Testing Order
On Monday Feb. 25, the C. difficile testing order will be updated to improve clinical decision-making. There will be an updated question for ordering providers on whether the patient has had 3 or more liquid stools in the past 24 hours. Process instructions will also be added to C. difficile test. These updates are based upon recommendations from the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Screenshots may be found at the link.
