McLendon Labs Memo - Changes in Ethanol Testing at UNC Hospitals

Effective June 18, the laboratory will be updating alcohol testing to standardize with other hospitals within the UNC Health Care System. The default order for ethanol analysis in serum will be performed enzymatically instead of gas chromatography. Read the full memo for details.

McLendon Labs Memo - Method Changing for Calculating eGFR

Effective June 25, UNC Health Care will be moving from the MDRD equation to the CKD-EPI equation for estimating of eGFR. The change will impact calculation of GFR whenever creatinine is measured both in the laboratory and point of care settings. Read the memo for details.

Annual Central Distribution Storeroom Inventory

Updated Notice of Privacy Practice for UNC Health Care System

The newly revised Notice of Privacy Practice (NPP) is now available. An NPP must be posted at all patient intake locations and a copy of the notice must be provided to a patient when they request one. UNC Health Care System managers should replace old Notice of Privacy Practice posters and brochures with the new versions as soon as possible but no later than June 24, 2019 when the new NPP Acknowledgement will go live in Epic.

Inpatient Providers: Medication Interactions Link now available within Order Sidebar

An “Interactions” link is now present at the top of the provider's "Manage Orders" sidebar. This link changes color and becomes active when a medication is ordered, and when clicked, displays the list of medication interactions prior to signing the order. This link will provide information on dosing, drug-drug, drug-allergy, drug-food and other patient safety related interactions. View details in this Tip Sheet.

CarePort guide, a patient facing tool allows care management to communicate in-person, via text or e-mail sharing information about skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and other sites of care.
