UNC Health Care implementing 'No Show and Late Cancellation' policy

UNC Health Care is implementing a system-wide 'No Show and Late Cancellation' policy in its outpatient clinics and services. Beginning Aug. 15, if a patient misses his/her appointment and does not notify the outpatient clinic/service, the patient will receive a 'no-show' letter to remind them of our policy and provide information about cancelling and rescheduling appointments.

Several months ago, we shared with you that UNC Health Care is in the process of creating a system Human Resources department for our owned facilities (Caldwell, Chatham, High Point Regional, UNC REX Healthcare, UNC Medical Center and UNC Physicians Network). Telemedicine network links NC Jaycee Burn Center with affiliate hospitals

A grant from The Duke Endowment will help connect the emergency departments of all UNC Health Care affiliate hospitals to the NC Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill through a telemedicine network. Nash Health Care was the first hospital to join the network, launching July 28. Johnston Health followed on the 29th. High Point Regional will come online in the coming weeks, with other affiliates joining the network later in the fall.

New IT infrastructure - 30 minute outage begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 18

In preparation for Epic@UNC, and to further unite UNC Health Care locations from a technical perspective, ISD will begin an upgrade this October to create a new UNC Health Care infrastructure that directly connects networks at UNC Hospitals, Rex, the UNC Physicians Network, and Chatham Hospital. This upgrade will cause a 30-minute internet outage beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Beginning June 17, 2013, new colleagues joining UNC Health Care will use both a new login ID format called the “uID” and a new email address formatting standard - "firstname.lastname@domain." These changes will not affect the login IDs or email addresses of current users.

One requirement for the Epic@UNC implementation is that we inventory all medical devices, monitors, printers, and workstations throughout our facilities so that we can prepare for integrating those devices with the Epic@UNC system.
