Nursing Professional Development, Practice & Research is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the next NA II Training Program class.

Nursing Professional Development, Practice & Research (NPDPR) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the next NA II Training Program class. The application is posted on the Nursing Assistive Personnel website and also available from Nurse Managers. The program dates are Sept. 11 – Dec. 17 and consists of 80 hours in the classroom followed by 80 hours of clinical. All fully completed applications must be submitted to the NPDPR administration office by Friday, July 13.

Program Overview
The intent of the NA II Training Program is to provide recognition and educational assistance to Nursing Assistants, as well as improving retention and recruitment. For applicants who are accepted into the program, the cost of the course, books, and the NA’s salary while in class will be paid by UNC Hospitals. Upon successful completion of the course, the NA I will be promoted to NA II and enter into a work buy-back contract. This contract will require the NA II to remain employed full-time at UNC Hospitals for at least 18 months or pay back the cost of the program on a prorated basis.

Potential applicants:

  • must have been employed as an inpatient NA I at UNC Hospitals for at least 9 months
  • may not be in Disciplinary Action
  • must have a minimum Prep Score of 2.0 (if applicable)
  • must have attended at least 50 percent of staff meetings, and
  • must have a current CPR card (AHA only)
