Please read this important message about holiday schedules.

  • This year Christmas Day (Dec. 25) falls on a Thursday. The other two associated winter holidays are scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26. All three days (Dec. 24, 25, and 26) are designated as “closed” holidays for Administrative and Clinic offices. Dec. 25 is designated a Premium Pay Holiday. Most hourly (non-exempt) employees and some salaried (exempt) employees who work on Dec. 25 will receive one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for work on that day. All work on Dec. 25 must be authorized or scheduled by management; employees may not self-schedule themselves without authorization.
  • All UNC Medical Center administrative offices and clinics will be closed Dec. 24, 25, and 26, unless authorized otherwise by Dr. Goldstein, Mr. Ellington, or the appropriate Associate Chair for Administration (ACA), and staff normally scheduled for those days should use paid leave for those days. There will be exceptions for necessary clinical operation areas.
  • New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2015) falls on a Thursday, and is both a Premium Pay Holiday and a designated “closed” holiday for Administrative and Clinic offices. All work on Jan. 1 must be authorized or scheduled by management; employees may not self-schedule themselves without authorization.
  • Managers are reminded that holiday celebrations and parties may not utilize UNC Health Care funding sources.
