Andrea Hayes-Jordan, MD, division chief of pediatric surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief of UNC Children’s Hospital, was elected President-elect of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS).

Andrea Hayes-Jordan, MD, division chief of pediatric surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief of UNC Children’s Hospital was elected President-elect of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS). On April 24th Dr. Martin Karpeh officially passed the torch to Dr. Andrea Hayes-Jordan, a trailblazer, surgeon-scientist, mentor & now president!
The mission of the SBAS is to improve health, advance science, and foster careers of African American and other underrepresented minority surgeons. Throughout her career, Dr. Hayes-Jordan has exemplified the qualities of a great leader including dedication, excellence, experience, and passion. It is with great pride that the UNC Department of Surgery congratulates Dr. Hayes-Jordan on her election as president-elect of the SBAS.
