Each year, The UNC Graduate School recognizes four doctoral candidates or recent doctoral graduates for creating exceptional dissertations in each of the following fields: biological and life sciences; humanities and fine arts; mathematics, physical sciences and engineering; and social sciences. Alex Gertner, an MD/PhD Student at the UNC School of Medicine and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, was one of four UNC-Chapel Hill students to receive the UNC Graduate Dean’s Distinguished Dissertation Award, for his work, titled: “Quality and Access of Buprenorphine Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder in Medicaid.”
