Jacobs has worked at UNC Hospitals for more than 25 years, was interim CNO since August


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Jacci Jacobs, MHA, MBA, BSN, RN, NE-BC, has become Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for UNC Hospitals. Jacobs has served as interim CNO since August.

“Jacci has been incredibly effective while serving as interim CNO,” said Janet Hadar, President of UNC Hospitals. “Her experience and dedication to patient safety and quality make her a perfect fit for this role. She is a proven leader who is truly dedicated to the nursing profession and cares about issues nursing teammates face.”

As CNO, Jacobs will be responsible for nursing practice, research, education, and operations spanning UNC Hospitals’ Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and Youth Behavioral Health campuses in addition to our outpatient locations.

Jacobs began her career with UNC Hospitals in 1998 as a clinical nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit. She has taken on successive roles in leadership at UNC Hospitals including as Nurse Manager on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Director of Inpatient Heart and Vascular Services and most recently as one of our Associate Chief Nursing Officers.
