Recapping the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program

On Friday, Jan. 16, UNC Hospitals held its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program in the N.C Children's Hospital lobby. John Mendez, D. Min, senior minister from Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, served as keynote speaker.

More than 40 faculty, staff and visitors gathered to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Prior to the event, members of the audience shared what Dr. King's legacy means to them. Various staff members from UNC Hospitals read their favorite quotes by Dr. King, sang inspirational songs, and highlighted notable moments of history in remembrance of the civil rights activist. Dr. Mendez spoke about the "Poor People's Campaign," which focused on economic justice for all citizens. Photos below by Hannah Crain, UNC Health Care.
