Update to Meaningful Use (MU) Navigator Checklist
The MU checklist in the Visit Navigator is being updated to reflect the current CMS modified stage two measures. Retired measure that are no longer a requirement for MU compliance are being removed. This change will not impact workflow.
Front Desk, Scheduling, Registration staff: Current coverage must be terminated if RTE returns 'Plan Mismatch' status
Beginning Tuesday, July 12, if Real Time Eligibility (RTE) returns a status of Plan Mismatch on an existing coverage record on the patient's registration, the current coverage must be terminated. Moving forward, an RTE status of Plan Mismatch on existing coverage will not allow the patient to be checked-in; a corrected coverage must first be entered and verified.
Inpatient RNs: Cosmetic changes, workflow updates coming July 11 for 'Print Label' and 'Lab Collection' functionality
Inpatient nurses will notice several changes to the layout and workflow of the 'Print Label' window and 'Lab Collection' window beginning Monday, July 11.
Hillsborough Hospital: one year of milestones and community outreach
July 2016 marks a milestone for UNC Health Care’s Hillsborough Campus. One year ago, with an incredible amount of hard work, determination, and collaboration, the new Hillsborough Hospital opened. The achievement was no small feat, and thanks to the dedication of so many of you, especially those working in Hillsborough, we have served thousands of patients who otherwise would have had to travel longer distances to receive care – and while doing so we have successfully become part of the Hillsborough community.
UNC Medical Center's Employee Recreation & Wellness department closed July 1
As Human Resources transitions to support all owned UNC Health Care entities, the UNC Medical Center Employee Recreation department closed effective July 1, 2016. Most services offered through Employee Recreation will continue to be available to employees after July through the Hospitals and University benefits.
New System Travel and Reimbursement Policy Effective July 1
UNC Health Care is adopting a system Employee Travel and Reimbursement Policy for owned entities (UNC Medical Center, UNC REX, High Point Regional, Caldwell Memorial, UNC Physicians Network) effective July 1. Managed entities may elect to adopt the policy.

As of 9 a.m. on July 7, 2016, more than 2,100 employees at UNC Medical Center (21%) have taken the 2016 Workforce Engagement Survey.
McLendon Clinical Lab Memo: TMS #67 – Changes in 30 Day Rule
Beginning July 11, 2016, the Transfusion Medicine Services of UNC Hospitals' McLendon Clinical Laboratories will accept Pre-Profecture Type and Screen testing (T&S) drawn at any UNC clinic for surgery to be performed at UNC Hospitals or Hillsborough Hospital.
