S11 Permit Holders: Special Event Parking Restrictions Oct. 6

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host a variety of fundraising events the week of Oct. 4 - 9. One of those events will be held at the Dean E. Smith Center on the evening of Oct. 6.

To support the University’s special fundraising efforts, several lots or portions of the parking lots will be reserved for event permits only:

Tuesday, Oct. 3 – Friday, Oct. 6 (24 hours per day)

  • 60 Manning Lot top tier numbered spaces

Friday, Oct. 6 (5 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.)

  • Williamson Lot
  • Williamson Drive
  • Bowles Lot (approximately 150 spaces towards Kenan Center Drive)

Alternate parking will be available in the “S11” Manning Lot.

Employees with a need to remain in the area past 7 p.m. on the evening of Oct. 6  may seek special parking permits for the Craige Deck for that date by contacting their respective Departmental Parking Coordinator or the UNC Hospitals Parking Office.

Traffic exiting the parking lots from 4 - 11 p.m. on Oct. 6 will be required to exit in a specific direction:

  • Vehicles exiting the Bowles Lot will turn left and away from the Smith Center.
  • Vehicles exiting the Manning Lot will turn right and away from the Smith Center

Traffic Control personnel will be on site to help direct traffic as expeditiously as possible.

Bus service to the area will remain operational.  However, certain routes will be adjusted and the bus stops in front of the Smith Center will be moved toward the Manning Lot and away from the front of the Smith Center.  For more information on the bus routes, visit the Chapel Hill Transit website.

A map of the impacted areas and alternate parking can be found here.

General questions regarding parking for Oct. 6 should be directed to the Department of Transportation & Parking during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., by calling 919-962-3951.
