Telecommuting Policy Update

On March 1, 2018, a new UNC Health Care system policy and agreement for telecommuting will go into effect. Changes to reimbursement for home internet and phone service under the new policy may be found at this link.

  • Effective March 1, 2018, new telecommuting arrangements will not be eligible for reimbursement for home internet or phone service
  • Effective August 1, 2018, employees with current telecommuting arrangements will no longer be eligible for reimbursement for home internet or phone service

This new policy and agreement – available at this Intranet link – will supersede the Teleworking-Working Off-Site policy (HR0318, February 2014 version) and the current Teleworker Agreement and Equipment Checklist at the UNC Medical Center.

Employees, please consult your manager with questions about the new UNC Health Care system telecommuting policy and agreement.  New UNC Health Care system policies support the implementation of an HR Shared Services delivery model to reduce variation across UNC Health Care and to create a consistent employee experience.

UNC Health Care confirms its commitment to being a Best Place to Work by assisting employees with work-life balance by offering telecommuting when it is mutually beneficial to both the employee and UNC Health Care, and as permitted by department leadership.
