Making Us Tar Heel Stronger: Nutritional Strategies to Optimize Cognitive and Physical Performance

January 31 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

As faculty, clinicians and healthcare teammates, we all want to be mentally sharp and efficient and to retain information effectively. In addition to physical exhaustion, these abilities can be compromised by poor nutrition and hydration, particularly in the face of heavy workloads, long work hours, high stress, and sleep deprivation. There is evidence that certain nutritional strategies can mitigate fatigue and improve our cognitive and physical performance. This talk briefly overviews the latest research on practical nutritional strategies that can help improve cognitive performance in professionals with high cognitive demands. This Grand Rounds highlights the UNC Health Wellness Week, January 29th through February 2nd, 2024.
