Pharmacology’s Seminar Series Presents Edward Glasscock, PhD

Edward Glasscock, PhD, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Southern Methodist University will present talk title “Revealing epilepsy’s lethal risk through neuro-cardio-respiratory biomarkers” for Pharmacology’s Seminar Series on September 5th, 2023. Dr. Glasscock’s research explores the genes and mechanisms underlying epilepsy and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) by employing diverse electrophysiological approaches in genetic mouse models. His seminar will focus on SUDEP, first defining what it is and then reviewing previous unsuccessful efforts to predict risk in patients. Lastly, he will discuss how his lab is applying fresh analytical approaches in mouse models to uncover novel biomarkers of SUDEP risk associated with neuro-cardio-respiratory patterns.
