Antibiotic Awareness Week
The Carolina Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (CASP) at UNC Medical Center is raising awareness to combat the spread of antibiotic resistance.

2nd Floor I-40 Corridor Work
Starting Monday, Nov. 12, Plant Engineering will be conducting core sampling in the second floor corridor that runs from Old Clinic to the Neurosciences Hospital, commonly known as I-40, and adjacent mechanical spaces in an effort to determine the cause of the flooring issues we continue to experience in this area. Work will occur after hours, starting at 5 p.m., in an effort to minimize disruption to patients, visitors and staff.

Hurricane Food and Essentials Collection Drive: Oct 24 - 26
UNC Medical Center will be collecting items for those affected by Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael Oct. 24-26. Due to inclement weather, our on-site Food & Essentials Drive for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC will now move inside to the concourse between the Neurosciences and Cancer Hospital lobbies Friday, Oct. 26.

Call for Letters of Intent - IHQI Improvement Scholars Program
The UNC Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement (IHQI) requests letters of intent for clinical improvement projects to be conducted Sept 1, 2019 - Aug 31, 2020 as part of the Improvement Scholars Program. Letters of intent are due Nov 7, 2018. Full applications are due Jan 16, 2019.

UNC's ASAM Waiver Training Course - Tuesday, Nov 6th
UNC Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers can take an active role in fighting the Opioid Epidemic. UNC ECHO for MAT is partnering with ASAM to provide a training course that covers evidence-based practices and medications for treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. This Half-Half course offers a 4 hour, self-paced online component combined with a 4 hour, in person training located at UNC. After completing the 8 hours of training, physicians will be able to apply for a DEA waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (APPs will need an additional 16 hours of training).
