Santas and Elves visit UNC Hospitals
For more than 25 years, Santas and elves have visited patients at UNC Hospitals as part of an annual event sponsored by the Volunteer Association. During their visits, they sing carols and deliver stuffed holiday bears to patients and their families, some of whom tear up, hug, and simply have a chat with Santa Claus.

Memorial Day Transportation & Parking Updates
Chapel Hill Transit will not operate and the University will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observation of Memorial Day. All Park & Ride permit holders and GoPass users will be may park in the S11 parking lots during this time period. On-campus parking permit holders should park in their assigned zones. UNC Hospitals shuttles will operate on a normal schedule. As always, the Dogwood deck will be reserved for patients/visitors.

Martin Luther King, Jr. event will emphasize commitment to caring for all
On Friday, Jan. 16, UNC Hospitals will hold its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program in the lobby of the N.C. Children’s Hospital. The program will begin at 11:45 a.m. This year’s keynote speaker will be John Mendez, D. Min, senior minister at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.

Hillsborough Holiday Home Tour
Please join the UNC Hospital’s Hillsborough Campus in supporting the 29th Annual Hillsborough Holiday Home Tour from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 6. This event is coordinated by the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce and offers self-guided tours of several beautifully appointed homes adorned for the holidays, including one to be decorated by staff from the Hillsborough Campus.

Overlook Cafe closed Dec. 15 - 16
The Overlook Cafe will be closed Dec. 15 - 16 to help support the hospital-wide holiday celebration that will take place from 1 - 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the Cancer Hospital courtyard. We will reopen and return to normal operating hours on Thursday, Dec. 17. Thank you for your continued support of our retail venues.

Congratulations to the winners of the first annual UNC Hospitals Tree Decorating Contest
This year employee teams were invited to decorate the Christmas trees in the lobbies of UNC Hospitals. The winners were announced last week.

Santa helps open children's play area
Dr. Diane Howell, with the help of Santa Claus, cuts the ribbon to the renovated children’s play area at the Streets at Southpoint in Durham. UNC Health Care sponsors the play area which has been given a Carolina-blue face lift just in time for the holidays.
