The ISD Training Team is proud to unveil the first episode of a new Podcast. In the first episode, Dr. Leo Marucci, UNC Medical Center Hospitalist and Epic@UNC Physician Champion, discusses how the UNC Medical Center and UNC REX Hospitalist groups addressed provider well-being initiatives, Epic@UNC's Secure Chat feature, and Storyboad, a new feature coming to Epic@UNC in January 2020.

ISD must distribute an update for the Dragon Medical One (DMO) dictation software on all PCs and laptops starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. To save you time, please leave your PC or laptop in the office and turned on when leaving Monday, Nov. 11, so that it can be updated overnight.

APP Students now have access to all physician notes; Do not use ‘Advanced Practice Provider Student Note’
Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students now have access to all notes that a physician can write in Epic@UNC. However, APP students only have the ability to ‘Share’ notes. They cannot sign, pend, or send for cosign. In the near future, we will be removing the ‘APP Student Note’ type. If you have any concerns about this change, contact the ISD Service Desk at 984-974-4357.

On Monday, Nov. 4, a new message will be implemented to alert the provider that a Hemoglobin A1C test was ordered within 90 days of a previous Hemoglobin A1C order. This update will impact inpatient and outpatient orders. The provide can choose to continue with the order or remove the order at the time of the message. See a screenshot of the alert here.

Medicare MBI Format Warning – October 31
On Oct. 31, a new warning will be live in Epic@UNC alerting staff that they must update the MBI number for the patient’s Medicare coverage. It is critical that all coverage listed with the old format (SSN based) is updated as soon as possible.
