Tax Preparation Assistance
Employees needing help with their tax preparation may qualify for free assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). Tax prep will not be onsite this year but will be available at VITA locations across NC. Qualified employees can have their taxes prepared at the State Employee Credit Union.

Stuff the Bus Captains Needed
Captains are needed to help support UNC Health Care’s annual Stuff the Bus school supply collection drive. This campaign collects more than 10,000 items annually for school children in need across the Triangle. This year's campaign will run August 12-16.

Multi-institutional Workshop Identifies the "Known Unknowns" of Opioid Crisis
In a recent all-day workshop, the NC DHHS joined forces with the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center (IPRC), the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute, the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health to bring together more than 70 experts from state agencies, academic centers, and area businesses to help put the plan for a state opioid research consortium into action.
