The Thurston Arthritis Research Center has been featured in the news recently for its work on alpha-gal, an allergy to red meat that has been linked to tick bites. TARC physicians Maya Jerath, MD, PhD, and Scott Commins, MD, PhD, were both interviewed by national and local news media to raise awareness regarding this often serious but frequently undiagnosed allergy.
