UNC Children's Development Early Career Investigator Grant Award

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation: Sickle Cell Disease/Advancing Cures
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) is accepting applications to support research into cures for sickle cell disease. DDCF seeks to fund research needed to advance curative therapies (e.g., gene modification, bone marrow transplant) or new drug candidates that would decrease sickling of red blood cells (e.g., molecules that would increase fetal hemoglobin) and encourages crossover of researchers from other disciplines and specialties to work on sickle cell disease. Award amount up to $300,000 over three (3) years. The application deadline is May 31, 2019 by 3:00pm ET.

Gerber Foundation - Pediatric Research Grants
The Gerber Foundation is accepting concept papers for proposals that focus on pediatric health or pediatric nutrition research. Projects focusing on pediatric nutrition focus on applied research that evaluates the provision of specific nutrients and their related outcomes in infants and young children. Prostate Cancer Foundation: 2019 PCF Challenge Awards for Metastatic, Lethal Prostate Cancer
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is accepting applications to support investigations of metastatic, lethal prostate cancer. High risk, currently unfunded projects are most desired. The funding program will support a team of at least three (3) investigators from non-profit academic research centers, including one young investigator. Award amount up to $1,000,000 per team. American Cancer Society: Clinical Scientist Development Grant (CSDG)
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is accepting applications to support the development of clinicians as clinical scientists. CDSGs provide support for protected time to allow junior faculty who see patients to be mentored and participate in research training to aid their development as independent clinician scientists. Award amount up to $135,000 (direct cost) per year for up 3-5 years. The application deadline is April 1, 2019.

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation: Damon Runyon Fellowship Award
The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is seeking applications for theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention. Applicants must have completed one or more of the following degrees or its equivalent: MD, PhD, MD/PhD, DDS, DVM. Candidates must apply for the fellowship under the guidance of a Sponsor – a scientist (tenured, tenure-track or equivalent position) capable of providing mentorship to the Fellow. Candidates who have already accepted a postdoctoral fellowship award are not eligible. Award amount varies. The application deadline is March 15, 2019.
