Starting Thursday, Feb. 16, scaffolding will be erected at Med Wings E and F at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill as part of a project designed to add fall protection to the Wings’ roof.


Starting Thursday, Feb. 16, scaffolding will be erected at Med Wings E and F at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill as part of a project designed to add fall protection to the Wings’ roof.

  • On Feb. 16, the west entrance to these two buildings will not be accessible while a temporary overhead protection canopy is constructed. Please see map for alternate entry routes. The west entrance will be reopened on Feb 17.
  • Beginning Feb. 20, the west entrance and the east entrance, accessible through an enclosed walkway connecting the Patient Support Tower and the wings, will be the only available entrances into Med Wings E and F for the duration of the project.
  • Construction is scheduled to continue through March 14, and during this time, all other entrances for Med Wings E and F will be enclosed by safety fencing and will be inaccessible.
  • Ground level access to Wing F is unavailable for the duration of the project. Access to Wings E&F is only available from the first floor of Wing E.
