Volunteer Services would like to announce our comprehensive visitation program for patients called “Compassionate Companions.” Volunteers are trained to sit bedside with patients, go for walks, and engage in social activities — often meeting many physician’s orders for alleviating stress and depression.

Volunteer Services would like to announce our comprehensive visitation program for patients called “Compassionate Companions.” Volunteers are trained to sit bedside with patients, go for walks, and engage in social activities — often meeting many physician’s orders for alleviating stress and depression.

The program will also offer some types of respite for caregivers.

The No One Dies Alone (NODA) program is a more specialized part of the Compassionate Companions. NODA volunteers sit with actively dying patients who are on comfort care and whose families may not be available to be with them. NODA volunteers have gone through a special training with Palliative Care and Pastoral Care for specific protocols in dealing with this type of patient.

Informational rack cards (see a sample card here) have been printed and are available to nursing units detailing the “how to” for requesting a volunteer for these visits.
