Emma Beckham, who has served as Associate Chair for Administration in the Department of Dermatology since 2003, will retire effective Jan. 1, 2021. Sarah Shipp, Financial Reporting Manager in the School of Medicine’s Finance and Business Office, has been selected as the Department’s new ACA.
Beckham joined the Department of Dermatology in 2002, serving as the Department’s Chief Operations Officer before assuming the ACA position in December of 2003. Her 35 year career at the University of North Carolina spans positions in the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry and School of Social Work.

Shipp, who will become ACA at the start of 2021, has been a member of the UNC School of Medicine’s Finance and Business Office team since 2014, and served in her current role of Financial Reporting Manager since July, 2019. Part of her responsibilities in this role include serving as the Financial Analyst for the Department of Dermatology, preparing her to seamlessly step into her new role. Prior to joining UNC, Shipp worked in the private sector with Lenovo and IBM leading teams around financial and data analyses to guide decision-making.
