UNC Health will recognize the legacy and leadership of Gary Park by naming the tower at the N.C. Neurosciences Hospital in his honor.

After 20 years of dedicated service to UNC Health, including 15 years as President of UNC Hospitals, Mr. Park is retiring effective Feb. 28.

“The Gary L. Park Tower at N.C. Neurosciences Hospital will recognize Gary for his leadership of UNC Hospitals and service to the people of our organization and the entire state of North Carolina,” said Dr. Wesley Burks, CEO of UNC Health. “We appreciate and applaud Gary’s commitment to improving healthcare for all North Carolinians.”

Park is also the recent recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award, the highest honor bestowed by North Carolina.

In recognition of his dedication, service and friendship, the team at UNC Hospitals celebrated Mr. Park by gathering in the hospital lobby in mid-February. Watch the video below as Janet Hadar, UNC Hospitals’ President, and hundreds of other co-workers and providers gathered to thank Gary and wish him all the best in retirement.
