Our Carolina Care Highlight this week recognizes Dr. Ashley Glyn Henderson from the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. The MSEC consists of the officers of the Medical Staff, the Department Chairs, the Chief Nursing Officer, the Deans of the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, the President of the House Staff Council, the President of UNC Faculty Physicians, and the President of UNC Hospitals. The MSEC acts on behalf of the Medical Staff on issues related to all aspects of medical practice. It receives reports on hospital operations, GME, and Nursing.

Benjamin Haithcock, MD, is a thoracic surgeon, director of the CT Residency program and associate professor in the UNC Department of Surgery. He talks about his shift from wanting to be a kindergarten teacher to his fascination with the human body and eventually becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. He is a surgeon who listens to his patients and walks with them through the process of managing their disease.
