Craig Cameron, PhD, Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, discusses his reasons for participating in the Moderna vaccine phase III clinical trial at UNC.

Dr. Cameron, the Jeffrey Houpt Distinguished Investigator, also explains why it is important for members of minority communities to join COVID-19 clinical trials. Minority communities in North Carolina and across the U.S. have been disproportionally affected by the coronavirus, which makes it even more important that vaccines and treatments developed are effective in this population.

This is the third installment in a serious of videos being produced about participating in COVID-19 clinical trials. Watch the first video featuring UNC Department of Medicine Chair, Ronald Falk, MD, and the leader of UNC’s Moderna vaccine phase III clinical trial, Cindy Gay, MD. Watch the second video, a Spanish language Q&A featuring Michael Herce, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases.
