The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce that Dr. Edwin Kim has been chosen to serve as the next Chief for the Division of Allergy and Immunology. He will start in the role on July 1st, 2021.
Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate work at MIT, a Master’s degree in Health Policy at Harvard, and received his MD from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his Pediatrics residency and Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Duke University. In 2011, Dr. Kim joined the UNC Department of Medicine as a faulty member in the Rheumatology/Allergy/Immunology division where he is currently appointed as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Kim has held leadership roles as the Medical Director of the adult Allergy/Immunology Specialty Clinic and as the Program Director for the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship. Dr. Kim also has a well-developed research portfolio focused on food allergy; he is the Director of the UNC Food Allergy Initiative. Under his leadership, this already successful research group has significantly expanded their accomplishments.
We are confident that Dr. Kim will be an outstanding Division Chief in this exceptionally active division.
