In a joint effort to modernize our clinical data research infrastructure, UNC School of Medicine, NC TraCS Institute, and UNC Health have built the new Secure Health Informatics Research Environment (SHIRE). The SHIRE, going live on November 3, is a full-featured analytics platform designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of projects using data from UNC Health’s electronic health record.

The award is given by asking colleagues, friends, and mentees in their professional circles to nominate colleagues who deserve recognition for outstanding service to audiology and the hearing sciences.

Dr. Joe Grisham passed away on January 29th, 2025. Dr. Grisham was the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from 1973-1999. He oversaw the creation of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory medicine, along with Bill McLendon, conducted impactful NIH research in liver pathology, and was a recipient of the American Society of Investigative Pathology’s highest honor, the Gold-Headed Cane Award.
