The cranes will be in place to complete the placement of the main part of the new pedestrian bridge “B.”
Skanska will begin setting up cranes on Manning Drive beginning on February 18 at 8 p.m. through February 21 at 5 p.m. The cranes will be in place to complete the placement of the main part of the new pedestrian bridge “B.” Skanska will close Manning Drive from Hospital Drive west to West Drive. Pedestrian sidewalks will also be closed during this bridge lift over Manning Drive.

UNC Hospitals Police will assist with traffic control onto and off of Hospital Drive during this road closure. Please be aware of the new traffic and pedestrian flow around the hospital and parking decks. Please note this is only the portion which spans Manning Drive. The North and South connections to existing and new construction will occur after this over the road set. Crews should be able to work in the rain, but wind and lightning have the potential to postpone the scheduled work.
