Carolina Care Excellence Highlight: Dr. Sarah Corley
Our patient comment this week recognizes Dr. Sarah Corley in the Department of Dermatology: "Dr. Corley was terrific! As I mentioned before, I had to bring my 22-month twin boys with me to the appointment. Dr. Corley (and the resident) were so kind to the boys to help keep them occupied during the visit and still provide me with outstanding care...

Tar Heel 10 Miler and Fleet Feet Sports 4 Mile Run
The 11th annual Tar Heel 10 Miler & Fleet Feet Sports 4 Mile Run will take place again in Chapel Hill on Saturday, April 21, 2018. This start is at 7:15 a.m. in front of the Bell Tower and the finish is along side Stadium Drive, concluding at 10:30 a.m. We are expecting about 6,000 runners. The primary beneficiary for the event is the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Multicultural Fair 2018 – Cultural Trivia Question of the Week

Limited / Restricted Access to Entering UNC Hospitals
As part of the 5 Children’s Protective Environment Unit Construction Project, a 500-ton crane and a 210-ton crane will arrive and be located at the Front Entrance of UNC Hospitals on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. The cranes will remain on-site throughout the entire weekend. Due to the 200-foot lift radius of the crane, there will be limited and restricted access upon arriving at UNC Hospitals.

Location Change for Employee Drop-Off and Pick-Up
As a result of the cranes that will be in front of the hospital from 5 p.m. April 5 through Sunday April 7, Jackson Circle (the traffic circle between the Physicians Office Building and the Jackson Parking Deck) is the designated as the employee drop off/pickup area.

Elevators W/C 10, 11, and 12 Closed
Plant Engineering has a 500-ton and a 210-ton crane arriving to UNC Hospitals on Friday – April 6, 2018 at 5 p.m. as part of the 5 Children’s Protective Environment construction project. The cranes will remain on-site the entire weekend. As a result, elevators W/C 10, W/C 11, and W/C 12 will be “Out Of Service” beginning Friday, April 6, at 11 p.m.

Location Change for Patient Drop-off and Pickup
Limited/restricted access to the front of the hospital means that patient drop-off and pickup, as well as the flow of pedestrian traffic through the hospital, will be detoured. More information on affected areas may be found at this link.

UNC Hospitals Named an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader
UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill has been designated a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality for the 2018 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) survey. The HEI scores health care facilities on policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees.

Highway 54 Shuttle will now operate on a set schedule
Beginning Monday April 2, 2018, the Highway 54 Shuttle operated through UNC Health Care will begin using the above set schedule. This shuttle will replace the on demand shuttle currently in operation. Riders will no longer need to call ahead to ride the shuttle.

Emergency Preparedness Drill Sunday, April 8
To test our response to a large number of patients coming to the hospital at the same time, an emergency preparedness drill is planned on Sunday morning, April 8.

DUO two-step verification required to access WebEx starting March 29
Starting on March 29, 2018, to enhance our information security, DUO 'two-Step Verification' will be required when accessing UNC Health Care WebEx sites remotely. You will still be able to login normally while at work (including from UNC School of Medicine offices).
