SHS4 is a course for Application Phase medical students which meets monthly on alternating Mondays and Fridays year round from March to February. The days are composed of topics that need a deeper dive than time has allowed for in students’ prior medical training and content directly relates to their clinical activities.

Starting Feb. 1, the concourse that runs between the Memorial Hospital lobby and the Children's Hospital lobby will be closed. During this time, Skanska will be connecting existing infrastructure to infrastructure that will service the UNC Surgical Tower when it is complete, and will be creating more seating for the Terrace Café. The closure is expected to last at least 8 months.

Jeffrey L. Houpt, MD, Dean Emeritus of the UNC School of Medicine, and former CEO of UNC Health Care, passed away on January 13 at the age of 78.

Harvey Hamrick, MD, passed away January 8, 2020. Hamrick completed his medical training and residency at UNC before joining the faculty. He spent 42 years in the Department of Pediatrics, including 23 years as Director of the Pediatric Residency Training Program.
