On April 1, UNC Medical Center will implement a new Professional Business Attire policy. The policy is designed to create standards for professional appearance in order to foster a positive working environment, promote workplace safety, and inspire confidence in quality care service delivery. This policy applies to all personnel performing services for/at UNC Medical Center, including volunteers, research personnel, students, staff, and providers at all levels.

The newest study conducted by a team at UNC Surgery finds that 58 percent of women surgeons experience sexual harassment. The currently unpublished project, presented at the recent Academic Surgical Congress, examines the scope of sexual harassment experienced by surgeons.

Mark Shen, PhD, at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, was first author on a scientific paper last November that Autism Speaks named as one of the top 10 research papers in 2018.

Seth Berkowitz, MD, MPH, assistant professor in the division of general medicine & clinical epidemiology, is a co-author of a Perspective on population health published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The study was carried out as part of an initiative of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, which was founded by UNC School of Medicine's Patrick Sullivan, MD, who is the consortium's lead principal investigator.
