The Mental Health Equity and Inclusion Program Engages with Medical Students at the Annual Medical Education Conference in New Orleans

One of the main priorities of the Mental Health Equity and Inclusion Program is to enlarge the number of qualified students interested in pursuing careers in psychiatry. As an intentional effort to accomplish this goal, the program engaged with medical students at a national conference interested in learning more about residency training at UNC, future career options in psychiatry, the Triangle as a place to live, and how they may become more engaged in the pursuit of mental health equity.

Family Medicine, Piedmont Health Collaborate to Overcome Language and Disability Barriers

A UNC Family Medicine collaboration with Piedmont Health Services and partners has resulted in a $3 million HRSA grant to improve training in overcoming language and disability barriers. The 5-year project, “Primary Care Training and Enhancement - Language and Disability Access to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,” is focused on building and developing curriculum and program experiences to enhance the training for medical students and residents.

UNC School of Medicine Seeks Senior Director for Research Administration

This newly-created position will develop and oversee the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Research Administration Services, which is being created to better serve the research functions of our departments and centers, reduce risk and improve efficiencies through process improvement. This position will advise school leadership on research policy and provide guidance and direction application strategies and on compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.

UNC School of Medicine Seeks Chair and Associate Dean for the Department of Health Sciences

The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an accomplished and energetic leader to serve as chair and associate dean for the Department of Health Sciences. The selected individual will lead a diverse group of faculty, trainees and staff members and will oversee all aspects of the department, including clinical practice, education, research and fiscal management consistent with the strategic planning of the UNC School of Medicine, UNC Hospitals and UNC Health.

Partnership with Piedmont Health Services Aims to Address Maternal Mortality Crisis

The project will focus on workflows to increase the timeliness and comprehensiveness of postpartum care, a virtual maternal-fetal medicine specialty consultation service including e-consult and telehealth capability for women with high-risk conditions served at rural community health centers, and support for community doula training and the development of a community doula collaborative in rural Chatham County.

Clinical Scholars convenes its equity-centered leadership training on April 20-26 at the JB Duke Hotel in Durham, NC with its 5th cohort. Author and educator Stedman Graham, UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz, and UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health Dean Nancy Messonnier will speak during a kickoff panel.
