Dr. Martha Fairbanks Perry, MD, has been named Director of Outpatient Quality and Safety for UNC Children’s Hospital. This position will report directly to The Chief Quality Officer for UNC Children’s and Vice Chair for Quality and Safety for the Department of Pediatrics. This appointment reflects Dr. Perry’s continued commitment to serve as a leader in all aspects of outpatient quality and safety in the UNC Children’s service line.

Jim Hagood, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, and Ronit Freeman, PhD, Associate Professor in Applied Physical Science, have been awarded a grant by Eshelman Institute for Innovation to pursue research in lung fibrosis.

Leah Ranney, PhD, Director for Tobacco Prevention and Evaluation Program (TPEP) and team received a three-year NIH award in the amount of $1.2 million for the research study Strengthening Cigar Warnings to Prevent Adolescent Use.
